Fieldwork in Guanabara Bay

The second sampling campaign of the (project name) took place in Guanabara Bay between 19 and 21 November 2026, aboard the oceanographic vessel Prof. Luiz Carlos (UERJ).

Objectives:

  • Collect water and sediment samples along a eutrophication gradient
  • Measure in situ biogeochemical parameters (pH, dissolved O2, nutrients)
  • Deploy sensors and collect samples for laboratory analysis

We are pleased to announce the publication of a new article in Nature, co-signed by members of the MAREL.

This work contributes to a better understanding of the processes driving eutrophication in tropical coastal zones and reinforces the scientific collaboration between French and Brazilian teams.
